“Vision Screening—and a Lifesaver”: Lucy Nash’s Story
A routine school vision screening can feel like a quick check before recess. For Lucy Nash, it changed everything.
As a fifth grader at Sam Houston Elementary, Lucy’s screening with the Maryville Lions flagged something unusual. We sent a note home recommending a follow-up with an ophthalmologist. That appointment led to urgent testing, a specialist referral to UT Hospital, and a diagnosis of hydrocephalus—dangerously high pressure behind the eye.

Maryville Lions Showcase Community Spirit at First United Methodist Church Fair
The Maryville Lions Club recently participated in the First United Methodist Church Alternative Gift Fair, a vibrant event filled with fun, fellowship, and fundraising. The Lions had several tables offering delicious pecans, mouth-watering Butter Braid pastries, and one-of-a-kind handcrafted items.

Maryville Lions Club Partners with the Alcoa Boys and Girls Club at their Fall Festival
The Maryville Lions Club has always been a vital force in the community. They recently participated in the Alcoa Boys & Girls Club Fall Festival. The fun-filled afternoon had 100+ children in attendance participate in games, craft activities, enjoy seasonal treats and share in lots of laughter.

On October 25, the Maryville Lions Club held a car cruise-in of vintage cars called OTTO (Oldies to the Oldies) where the cars cruised to 4 different Assisted Living Centers in Blount County.

Maryville Lions to Join District 12-N Convention Service Project: Preparedness Packs
Maryville Lions will take part in the District 12-N Convention and its district-wide service project focused on disaster preparedness. During the convention, we’ll assemble simple Preparedness Kits to help our neighbors be ready before emergencies strike. Convention dates for District 12-N are March 27–28, 2026.

Maryville Lions Join District 12-N Hunger Week: 40,000 Meal Goal
The Maryville Lions Club will join fellow District 12-N clubs for Lions International's Hunger Week of Service by packing meals at Pathways Church - the Hangar (Sevierville). Our shared goal: 40,000 shelf-stable meals to support regional food partners during the winter crunch.

On October 4th, while attending a District Cabinet meeting, members of the Maryville Lions Club delivered 5,500 pairs of eyeglasses for recycling through the District eyeglass recycling program.

The Shed, a popular Maryville concert and event venue, held its annual community appreciation day on August 23, 2025. The Maryville Lions Club was proud to participate and rolled out a booth, shared the mission of the club, and shared stories with people from far and wide who have been impacted by the work of the Lions.
