The Maryville Lions proudly announce the 2025 winners of the Look of the Leader Awards: Dr. Heather Ledbetter, Healthcare Coordinator for the Maryville City School System, and Lana Pettis, Banking Officer at CBBC Bank in Maryville.
Dr. Ledbetter has been organizing the school system's health screenings for years, and the Lions have conducted vision screenings under her tutelage for over 20 years. Lana has been with the bank since 1999 and worked for a previous Maryville Lion, Bob Carroll, who was a VP at CBBC. Lana has been instrumental in supporting the Maryville Lions' efforts to serve the needs of Blount County better.
This Look of the Leader Award is a new project for the club this year. In the future, the club hopes to recognize one or more community leaders who have exemplified the Lions' motto - "We Serve" who inspire by example, giving of their time, skills, and heart to make a difference and make Blount County a better place to live, work, and grow.
The Look of the Leader awards are selected by nominations from Maryville Lions Club members who deem a candidate worthy based on their vision, compassion, and leadership in service to others. There are three categories in which a nominee may be selected: Volunteer of the Year, Youth Volunteer of the Year, and Healthcare Professional of the Year. Nominations run through November, with winners notified in December and a celebration presentation held in January.
