Medical professional performing an eye exam

Who qualifies

  • Blount County residents with financial need

  • Children or adults who don’t have coverage for an exam/eyeglasses or can’t afford their share

  • We may ask for simple documentation (proof of residence and benefits/income) to verify eligibility.

  • Maryville Lions also provides free vision screenings in local schools and daycares; screenings can lead to referrals for full exams when needed.

How to request help

  • Use the Contact Us form on the website and include the subject line “Eye Exam Assistance.”

  • Include: your name, city/ZIP, best contact, age of the person needing the exam, and a brief note about your situation.

  • We’ll reply with next steps (any documents needed and partner clinic options).

  • If approved, we’ll schedule you with a partner provider and explain what’s covered.

What's covered

  • A comprehensive eye exam at a partner clinic (coverage depends on funding and program guidelines).

  • Basic eyeglasses when medically necessary, if included in the assistance package.

  • We’ll clarify details for your case before you schedule.

For families with young children

  • Lions’ KidSight programs provide free vision screenings (ages ~1–72 months) to flag issues early; if a screening suggests a concern, we’ll help you find a full exam.

Free & Discount Eye Exams
