OTTO Cruise-In: Oldies to the Oldies
(Classic Car Rally)

Twice a year, the Maryville Lions Club hosts the OTTO Cruise-In—a community parade of classic cars that visits local healthcare and assisted-living facilities. Drivers park for about 40 minutes at each stop to swap stories with residents, pose for photos, and relive the days when chrome and rumble seats ruled the road. We’ve grown from just 8 cars to 20+—come show off your classic and make someone’s day.

Why We Cruise

This is a service project - not just a car meet. Your time and your car:

  • Brighten the day for residents who may be isolated or mobility-limited.

  • Spark reminiscence—memories tied to cars can lift mood and prompt meaningful conversation.

  • Offer dignity and inclusion by bringing the show to them, on their schedule and at their home.

  • Build community connection between drivers, staff, families, and residents.

  • Give enthusiasts a hands-on way to serve, sharing craftsmanship, history, and kindness.

Bottom line: you’re bringing joy and human connection—your car is the icebreaker.

How You Can Participate

Bring your classic pre-70's cars and/or trucks. A typical rally includes:

  • Multiple stops at local facilities, with about 40 minutes of visiting at each.

  • A small entry fee

  • a commemorative magnet, and prize drawings by registration number.

  • Occasional era guidelines and a posted rain date—we’ll confirm the specifics for each event.

What to Expect on Rally Day

  1. Check-in & lineup at the staging area.

  2. Convoy to each stop—park, visit with residents, enjoy the stories and photos.

  3. Final meet-up for food, fellowship, and informal awards/prizes.

“One lady asked if we had a car with a rumble seat because her ‘Georgie’ first kissed her there!”—that’s the kind of smile you help create.
