Maryville Lions Club Connects with Students at Maryville College Volunteer Fest
The Maryville Lions Club enjoyed participating in Maryville College’s Volunteer Fest on September 17. Hosted by the college’s Center for Community Engagement, the event gave students an opportunity to meet local organizations and discover meaningful ways to serve the community. We appreciate the college for including us and thank the many students who stopped by our table to talk about volunteering.
Club members shared three opportunities created specifically for Maryville College students:
These opportunities allow students to support the Lions’ vision-related mission while gaining practical experience in teamwork, community outreach, communications, and accessibility.
We were excited by the interest students showed in serving their community. Whether collecting and preparing donated eyeglasses for recycling, helping the club tell its story, or identifying barriers faced by people who are blind or have low vision, each volunteer can make a meaningful contribution.
Students can visit ScotsEngage through the links above to learn more and express their interest.
The Maryville Lions Club is also looking for new members who want to help lead these student projects and participate in the club’s many other service activities. To learn more about volunteering or becoming a Lion, visit maryvillelions.org.
