LIONS DAY AT THE UNITED NATIONS

Lions International will celebrate 80 years of partnership with the United Nations during Lions Day with the United Nations (LDUN) on March 19, 2026 in New York City. This event commemorates the long-standing relationship as a consultative NGO to the UN dating back to 1945, when Lion leaders were asked to help develop the NGO charter.

The 48th annual Lions Day with the United Nations will celebrate the theme "Protecting Peace and Dignity. When you attend LDUN in New York, you'll experience an incredible event in one of the most dynamic cities on earth. You will:

Guided U.N. Tours

Take a guided journey through the corridors of the iconic building where international diplomacy happens. You'll learn about the history and work of the United Nations and visit the famous General Assembly Hall and Security Council Chamber (meetings permitting).

Functions and Powers of the General Assembly - Decisions on important questions, such as those on peace and security, admission of new members and budgetary matters, require a two-thirds majority. Decisions on other questions are by simple majority.
