The Maryville Lions Club enjoyed participating in Maryville College’s Volunteer Fest on September 17. Hosted by the college’s Center for Community Engagement, the event gave students an opportunity to meet local organizations and discover meaningful ways to serve the community.

On August 14, the Maryville Lions Club partnered with Maryville College and incoming freshmen for an afternoon of service that made an immediate impact across Blount County. As part of Maryville College’s fall orientation, the students rolled up their sleeves and tackled two vision-focused projects. They sorted approximately 2,000 donated eyeglasses collected by the Maryville Lions Club and put together 400+ vision kits for assisted living residents.

Last Saturday, members of the Maryville Lions Club had the privilege of volunteering in support of the riders participating in Tour de Blount, one of our area’s long-running and well-loved cycling events. Tour de Blount is hosted by the Foothill Striders, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles, outdoor recreation, community service, and enjoyment of the beautiful East Tennessee outdoors.
